EXCELLENT Based on 27 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Cruiser18186293217Verified Enjoyable family experience Our family of five landed in Marrakech a full 24 hrs late due to flight issues but Hamid & Mustafa were right there patiently waiting for us at the airport at 2:00AM. It was evident that point on that we were in absolutely good hands for the entire duration of the trip. We enjoyed every moment of the trip. It was so relaxed and at our pace ( with kids). We had sufficient time to explore and soak in all the places. The Riad arrangements were awesome. The food stops were well thought. At one point our son left his laptop behind ( he is wired into his school work) but Hamid & Mustafa worked their contacts to have the laptop to us before we left Morocco. We would highly recommend them for first time travelers with families.Posted on Tripadvisor yency hVerified Best Tour with Hamid in Morocco We did a super 8 days tour with Culture Desert Tours from Casablanca to Marrakech via Fes, desert, Chefchaouen, Atlas Mountains, it was a life time trip with our guide Hamid, who was excellent provided informatin about his beautiful country and provide as with the best services, including hotels, desert camp and camel riding in the desert. Join this 2 days Marrakech to Zagora desert tour for a short yet unforgettable adventure. Travel through the High Atlas Mountains, passing by beautiful Berber villages and ancient Kasbahs like Aït Ben Haddou and Tamnougalte. Along the way, admire lush valleys, palm groves, and seasonal rivers, following the historic caravan routes where traders once traveled. Visit local pottery cooperatives and the Qoranic Library, home to rare manuscripts. As the sun sets, enjoy a camel ride in the desert, followed by a traditional Moroccan dinner and Berber music around a campfire in a luxury desert camp. This 2-day desert tour from Marrakech is perfect for those looking to experience the magic of the Zagora Desert in a short time.
Your Marrakech to Zagora desert tour with a luxury camp begins at 8:30 AM, departing from your hotel or riad in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle. The journey takes you through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2260m). Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of Berber villages and lush valleys, offering a glimpse into Morocco’s traditional way of life.
After descending the mountains, continue through the Tizi-n-Infinite Pass (1660m) before arriving in the scenic Draa Valley at Agdz. Following part of the ancient Sahara caravan route, you’ll pass through beautiful palm groves, Berber villages, and hidden oases, immersing yourself in the Marrakech to Zagora desert experience.
By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Zagora, where your Zagora desert camp experience begins. Set out on a Marrakech to Zagora camel trek, riding across the golden dunes as the sun sets over the desert. Alternatively, you may choose to reach the camp by 4×4. While the Zagora dunes are smaller than those in Merzouga, they offer an equally magical Sahara desert trip from Marrakech on a short itinerary.
Spend the night in a luxury desert camp, featuring private tents, king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms, and beautifully handcrafted Moroccan furnishings. Enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars, followed by Berber music around the campfire, making this one of the best 2 days Marrakech to Zagora desert tour.
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking desert sunrise, as the first light of the day paints the dunes with golden hues. After breakfast, visit the historic Qoranic library in Tamegroute, which houses ancient manuscripts and Islamic calligraphy. Next, explore the Tamgroute pottery workshops, where skilled artisans craft the distinctive green pottery seen across Morocco.
Heading north, your Zagora desert tour from Marrakech including Aït Ben Haddou takes you to the famous UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks. This well-preserved fortress has served as a backdrop for many Hollywood films and was once a major stop on the trans-Saharan trade route, where traders brought gold, ivory, salt, and spices from sub-Saharan Africa.
Continuing through the stunning Ounila Valley, you’ll pass remote Berber villages before reaching Telouet Kasbah, the former stronghold of the powerful Glaoui family. While the kasbah remains in ruins due to age and the 2023 earthquake, the exterior is still worth exploring with a local guide to learn about its fascinating history.
As you return to Marrakech, the road winds through lush gardens filled with olives, walnuts, pomegranates, apples, and figs, offering a serene end to your overnight desert tour from Marrakech. You’ll arrive back in Marrakech by late afternoon, concluding your best 2-day tour from Marrakech with unforgettable memories of the desert.
