Itinerary

Day 1Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Middle Atlas Mountains - Ziz Valley - Merzouga

Your 2-day desert tour from Fes begins with a pick-up from your riad. Then, you will travel toward the Merzouga Desert, passing through some beautiful landscapes.

Your first stop will be Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco because of its cool weather and European-style houses. After that, you will drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, enjoying the fresh air and scenic views. Along the way, you will stop at a cedar forest, where you may see Barbary monkeys in their natural habitat.

Lunch will be in a local restaurant along the way. Afterward, you will continue your journey along the Ziz Valley, an oasis filled with palm trees. You will stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire the stunning landscape.

In the afternoon, you will arrive in the Merzouga Desert, where camels will be waiting to take you across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. You will ride through the peaceful desert and stop at a high dune to watch a beautiful sunset. After that, you will reach your luxury desert camp, where the staff will welcome you and show you to your private tent.

After a tasty dinner, the camp team will light a bonfire, and you can relax around it while enjoying Berber music with drumming and singing. The night sky will be full of bright stars, making your stay unforgettable.

Day 2Day 2: Merzouga - Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

Wake up early to watch a peaceful sunrise over the dunes. After a delicious breakfast, you will leave the camp in a 4×4 vehicle and head back to Merzouga. Then, you will start the long drive to Marrakech, with stops along the way.

One of the highlights of the day is a visit to Ait Benhaddou, Morocco’s most famous Kasbah. This historic village has been used as a filming location for movies and TV series such as The Mummy, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones. Since 1987, UNESCO has listed it as a World Heritage Site.

After exploring Ait Benhaddou, you will cross the High Atlas Mountains, stopping at panoramic viewpoints to enjoy breathtaking scenery. By the evening, you will arrive in Marrakech, where your 2-day Sahara desert tour from Fes ends as your guide drops you off at your riad or hotel.
